Privacy Policy
Effective 14 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Jive Labs LLP (“jyve”, “we”, “us”) handles personal data when you use the jyve website, mobile application, and related services (the “Platform”). It applies to people who browse events and to people who list them.
jyve is a discovery platform. We aggregate event listings so you can find things happening around you. We are not the organizer of those events. When you ask to join an event, some of your information is shared with the organizer so they can run it. From that point, the organizer decides how they use that information for their event. Their practices are theirs, not ours.
By using the Platform you acknowledge this Policy. Where the law requires consent for a particular use, we will ask for it. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform. The Terms and Conditions explain what jyve is, and is not, responsible for.
1. Who we are
The data fiduciary for personal data we collect through the Platform is Jive Labs LLP, India. For privacy questions or requests, email contact@jive.club.
The Platform includes our websites (including jive.club and jyve.club), our mobile applications, and related pages and forms we operate.
2. Information we collect
What we collect depends on how you use jyve.
Account and sign-in. Name, email address, mobile number, date of birth, and sign-in details. You may sign in with email or phone verification, or with a third-party account such as Google or Apple. If you do, we receive the basic profile information that service shares with us.
Profile. Information you choose to add, which may include gender, pronouns, the city or area where you live, an address you type in, interests, occupation, Instagram or LinkedIn details, a profile photo, and a short note about what you are looking for.
A check that you are a real person. We may ask you to take a live photo in the app and compare it with your profile photo. You can skip this. If you provide it, we use it to reduce fake accounts. We do not use it to identify you in public places, and we do not sell it.
Membership applications. Access to some or all of the Platform may depend on an application. That application may include the profile information above, links to social profiles, and a short audio note. We use this to decide whether to offer access. Applying does not mean you will be accepted.
Organizers. If you list events, we may also collect your phone number, email, a description of your community, photos from past events, social and website links, and identity or business details you submit so we can review the account. Those details may include a government identity number, GST information, and bank account information. We may use a verification provider to check them.
Events. Listings you create, requests to join, guest details you submit for a request, and messages you send us or, where the feature exists, to an organizer through the Platform.
Location. The city or area you enter, and approximate or precise device location if you allow it. We use this to show events near you. You can refuse device location and still enter a place yourself. Refusing precise location may make nearby discovery less useful.
Payments. If a listing is paid, payment is handled by a payment provider or by the organizer. We may receive the status of a payment, a transaction reference, the amount, and which listing it relates to. We do not store your full card number.
Device and usage. Device type, operating system, app version, IP address, browser type, approximate location derived from the IP address, pages or screens you open, actions you take, timestamps, and crash or diagnostic data.
Cookies. Our website may use cookies and similar tools to keep you signed in, remember preferences, protect the Platform, and understand how it is used.
3. How we use information
We use personal data to:
- create and run accounts;
- review applications and reduce fake or misleading accounts;
- show events and communities that may be relevant to you;
- let organizers publish listings and manage requests;
- pass a join request, and the details needed to act on it, to the organizer;
- send service messages, including verification codes and updates about a request or listing;
- provide support and handle grievances;
- keep the Platform secure, investigate abuse, and enforce our Terms;
- understand what is working and fix what is not; and
- comply with law and defend legal claims.
Relevance on the Platform is not a promise that an event is good, safe, or right for you. A listing appearing in your feed is not an endorsement.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use it for a new purpose that is unrelated to the ones above without notice, or without consent where the law requires it.
4. Who we share information with
Organizers. If you request access, register, or are invited to an event, we share with that organizer the information they need to consider the request and run the event. That can include your name, profile photo, verification status, city, interests, and the details of your request. The organizer then handles that information for their own purposes. Questions about how an organizer uses it should go to the organizer. We are not responsible for an organizer’s privacy practices after we have passed the information on.
Service providers. Companies that host the Platform, send email or verification messages, process payments, check identity, store content, or help us with security and diagnostics. They may use the information only to provide those services.
Sign-in and identity services. If you use Google, Apple, DigiLocker, or a KYC provider, that service processes data under its own terms and privacy policy as well as ours.
Legal and safety. We may disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to a valid request from a public authority, protect someone from harm, investigate fraud or abuse, or establish or defend a legal claim.
A business transfer. If we merge, are acquired, or sell assets, personal data may transfer with that transaction, subject to applicable law.
Other users can see information you place on a public part of the Platform, such as an event listing or the profile fields we show with a request. Do not post anything you are not willing to share.
5. How long we keep it
We keep personal data for as long as we need it to run your account, provide the Platform, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and meet legal, tax, and accounting duties. Application information for an account we do not accept is kept only as long as we need it for that decision, for abuse prevention, and for any follow-up you ask us to make.
If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise personal data we no longer need. We may retain a limited record where the law requires it, or where we need it for security, fraud prevention, or an unresolved dispute. Information already shared with an organizer is held by that organizer under their own practices.
6. Your choices and rights
Subject to the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable law, you may ask us to:
- confirm whether we process your personal data and provide a summary of it;
- correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- erase personal data we no longer need, or where consent is withdrawn and we have no other lawful reason to keep it;
- withdraw consent, where processing is based on consent; and
- nominate another person to exercise your rights if you die or become unable to do so.
Email contact@jive.club. We may need to confirm it is you before we act. Withdrawal of consent does not undo processing that was already lawful. You can also stop device location in your phone settings, skip an optional live photo, and unsubscribe from promotional messages using the link in those messages. Service messages about your account or a request you made are part of using the Platform.
You can ask us to delete your account by emailing contact@jive.club. Deletion removes your access to requests, listings, and history on jyve.
7. Children
jyve is for people who are 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone younger. If you believe we have, email contact@jive.club and we will delete it and close the account.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data. No online service is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details private.
9. Transfers outside India
Some of our providers may store or process information outside India. Where we transfer personal data across borders, we do so as permitted by applicable law.
10. Links and other services
The Platform may link to an organizer’s site, a map, a payment page, or a social profile. Those services are not covered by this Policy. Read their policies before you give them information. We are not responsible for them.
11. Changes
We may update this Policy. We will post the new version on this page and change the effective date. Where the law requires it, we will also give you a more direct notice. If you keep using the Platform after an update, the updated Policy applies.
12. Grievances
If you have a question or complaint about your personal data, write to the Grievance Officer at contact@jive.club. Please use the subject line “Privacy grievance” and include the account email or phone number you use on jyve.
We will acknowledge a grievance within a reasonable period and in any case within the time required by the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, where those rules apply, and we will aim to resolve it within the period those rules require.
You may also have a right to approach the Data Protection Board of India once that route is available to you under applicable law.
